EXHIBIT A <br /> • PLAN OF IMPROVEMENT <br /> A. Replacement of the existing filter media with deep-bed <br /> anthracite mono-media and installation of an air scour system. <br /> Piping which will support the second and third phases will also <br /> be installed. <br /> B. Additional raw water intake lines will be installed to <br /> add flexibility to the water intake system and provide increased <br /> hydraulic capacity for future expansions . The screenhouse will <br /> be modified to improve the hydraulic capacity. Static mixers <br /> will replace the existing mechanical mixers, and the inlet flume <br /> to the flocculation basins will be modified to enhance hydraulic <br /> performance . <br /> C . Modification of the wash water conveyance system to <br /> improve its hydraulic performance . <br /> D. Replacement of the existing 18-inch filter-to-waste <br /> lines with 30-inch lines to enable the modified filters to be <br /> operated in a filter-to-waste mode at the higher filtration rates <br /> anticipated with this plant upgrade . <br /> E . The addition of 1, 350 square feet of on-site storage <br /> and handling facilities for equipment and hazardous materials . <br /> F. Chemical feed systems improvements . <br /> G. A 7, 500-square foot addition to the operations building <br /> to provide office and general storage space . <br /> H. A new vault for the #5 water transmission line valve . <br /> This is a critical line valve located on the plant grounds . <br /> I . Construction of a fluoridation system. <br />
