• <br /> Ordinance No. /P17: <br /> : 9c <br /> An Ordinance of the City of Everett Amending Zoning Code <br /> Ordinance Nos. 1671-89, 1729-90, 1770-91 , 1793-91 and 1838-91 . <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that City of Everett adopted Zoning <br /> Ordinance No. 1671-89 which became effective on January 13 , 1990; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that Ordinance 1671-89 has been <br /> amended several times since its adoption; and <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council finds that the Planning Commission <br /> recommended that an annual review of the Zoning Code occur to keep the <br /> ordinance up-to-date; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City received numerous <br /> suggestions for various amendments to the zoning code for the 1991 <br /> annual Zoning Code review; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Planning Commission has <br /> conducted several public workshops and hearings on the proposed Zoning <br /> Code amendments and has recommended that the City Council approval of <br /> various proposed amendments; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City Council has conducted a <br /> public hearing to consider the recommendations of the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the proposed amendments to the <br /> Zoning Code bear a substantial relation to the public welfare and are <br /> in the best long term interests of the Everett Community. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: Section 4 of Ordinance No. 1671-89, as amended by <br /> Ordinances 1729-90, 1770-91, 1793-91 and 1838-91 is hereby repealed. <br /> SECTION 2: Ordinance No. 1671-89, as amended, is amended by the <br /> addition of the following: <br /> Zoning Code Definitions, General. Except where specifically defined <br /> in this Section or other sections of this Ordinance, all words used in <br /> this Ordinance shall have the meaning commonly or logically <br /> associated therewith. When not inconsistent with the context, words <br /> used in the present tense include the future, words in the singular <br /> include the plural, and words in the plural include the singular. <br /> The word "person" may be taken for persons, association, firm, <br /> partnership or corporation as well as the individual. The masculine <br /> includes the feminine. The word "occupied" includes premises <br /> designed or intended to be occupied; the word "used" includes designed <br /> or intended to be used. The word "shall" is always mandatory; the <br /> word "may" denotes a use of discretion in making a decision. <br />
