c <br /> EVERETT <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1830-91 <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to the City's licensing <br /> regulations for towing businesses, amending <br /> Ordinance No. 295-74 by the addition of a new <br /> chapter and repealing Ordinance No. 1658-89 <br /> (Chapter 5. 70 Everett Municipal Code) . <br /> WHEREAS, it is desirable that the Everett tow truck regulations <br /> conform, where applicable, with the laws, rules and regulations <br /> of the State of Washington, Washington State Patrol and the <br /> Department of Licensing; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Ordinance No. 295-74 is hereby amended by the addition of a new <br /> chapter regulating towing businesses and tow trucks which chapter <br /> shall read as follows: <br /> Section 1: DEFINITIONS. <br /> A. "Towing business" or "towing service" includes any person, <br /> partnership, joint venture, corporation or other business which <br /> owns and/or operates one or more tow trucks within the corporate <br /> limits of the City of Everett and who engages in the impounding, <br /> transporting or storage of unauthorized vehicles or the disposal <br /> of abandoned vehicles. <br /> B. "Tow truck" means any vehicle designed or intended to tow <br /> vehicles which are disabled by mechanical failure or physical <br /> damage or being impounded pursuant to law. <br /> C. "Impound" means the taking of a vehicle into legal custody, <br /> pursuant to law. <br /> D. "Police" means any authorized agent of the Everett Police <br /> Department or other law enforcement agency having jurisdiction. <br /> E. "Police Department" means the Police Department of the City <br /> of Everett. <br /> F. "City" means City of Everett. <br />
