These biofilters are part of the odor control system that mitigates odor impacts from hydrogen <br /> sulfide emissions at the Plant headworks. The Phase B-2A Improvements Project will construct <br /> modifications to the Headworks Biofilters to accommodate the new biofilter media. The estimated <br /> construction cost of the Phase B-2A improvements is$600,000. <br /> The Phase B-2A Improvements are a part of the Water Pollution Control Facility's Phase B Expansion <br /> projects. These projects were identified as part of a phased modification needed in order for the plant to <br /> maintain compliance with its Department of Ecology discharge permit. Previous expenditures for this <br /> account include$1,246,409 for engineering design and construction services, $2,521,729.94 for the bidding <br /> and construction of Phase B-2, and$259,838.12 for the purchase of the biofilter media to be installed in <br /> Phase B-2A. The total expenditure for this account to date is $4,027,977.06. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Authorize the call for bids for the Water Pollution Control Facility Phase B-2A Improvements Project. <br /> 137 <br />
