Jackson Hydroelectric Project on the <br /> Sultan River,the City's lands at Lake Chaplain(Lake Chaplain Tract) are to be managed for wildlife habitat <br /> enhancement to mitigate project impacts to wildlife. Periodic timber harvest creates continued shrub forage <br /> and enhanced habitat for certain species, such as deer. <br /> The award of the Cougar Timber Sale#124-8 will continue to accomplish the habitat management mandated <br /> in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission plan. <br /> There are three parcels to be harvested totaling about 60 acres. There are estimated to be 2.053 million board <br /> feet of timber available to be harvested and the minimum acceptable bid is $668,000. Based on bids received <br /> on May 24, 2011,the high bidder was Hampton Tree Farms,Inc. with a bid of$998,191.24. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Award the Cougar Timber Sale#124-8 contract to the highest most bidder, Hampton Tree Farms, Inc. and <br /> authorize the Mayor to sign the contract with this company for the amount of$998,191.24. <br /> 177 <br />
