FLUORIDATION IS OPPOSED BY THE EPA SCIENTISTS'UNION! As City Council you have probably checked with City water people on how safe it is to continue providing fluoridated water to the people you represent. I assume they reassured you that the U.S. Government says it's safe and effective in reducing cavities. Therefore you feel comfortable continuing with fluoridated water in spite of listening to people like us come repeatedly and tell you of all kinds of evidence that it is neither effective nor safe. In order to break this logjam and help us all move ahead I have given each of you a copy of a remarkable 5 page document from the EPA's scientists' union (Headquarters Professionals' Union) explaining why THEY oppose water fluoridation. Their reasons are the same ones we have been telling you about and they even quote many of the same research papers. Since their government managers would not listen to them, they finally went public by providing a "Friend of the Court" brief opposing fluoridation in a lawsuit against the government by a public interest group. The EPA scientists reasons for opposition include "...increasingly out-of-control exposures to fluoride, the lack of benefit to dental health... and hazards to health "...to people with impaired kidney function" plus "chronic toxic hazards of gene mutations, cancer, reproductive effects, neurotoxicity, bone pathology and dental fluorosis. They also mention studies showing decreased IQ in children from higher fluoride areas and fluoride's accumulation in the pineal gland leading to decreased production of meta " The Union points out a research paper by John Colquhoun that provides details of how DATA WAS MANIPULATED TO SUPPORT FLUORIDATION especially in the U.S. and New Zealand. My main point today is that the Council can not afford to rely on U.S. Government assurances that fluoridation is safe and is effective when the government's own scientists are telling us that fluoridation is not safe and is not effective! The former president of the EPA scientists' union, Dr. Robert Carton, summed this up in his famous quote "Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century, if not of all time." Members of the city council, it IS a fraud, so you should read the case against fluoridation from the EPA union scientists that I have given to you, check out the references in that communication and form your OWN opinion. I believe you will end up agreeing with the EPA's own scientists and take action get this toxic industrial waste out of our water.
