The goal is to continue reducing traffic related deaths and serious injuries by engaging in multi jurisdictional,high visibility emphasis patrols in the areas of impaired driving and occupant protection. The allocation for the Everett Police Department's participation in emphasis patrols is$3,500.00 for Impaired Driving and$1,600.00 for Seat Belt Emphasis,totaling$5,100 for patrols between October 1, 2011 and September 30, 2012. The memorandum of understanding sets forth the requirements for the Everett Police Department to participate in the project and receive the allotted funding. RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign the 2011 Memorandum of Understanding with the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and accept the allotted funds of$5,100.00 for the participation in the high visibility enforcement traffic safety emphasis patrols_ 123
