• EL/E?ETT ORDINANCE NO. 1817-91 AN ORDINANCE establishing standards and training to regulate ambulance and certain emergency first aid services and transportation and repealing Ordinance Nos. 570-78, 781 -81 and 835-82 (Chapter 5.72 EMC) and all other ordinances in conflict herewith. WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Everett to establish standards and training to regulate ambulance and certain emergency first aid services and transportation within its corporate limits; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: SECTION 1 : Definitions. A. Ambulance shall mean any privately or publicly owned vehicle that is equipped and used for transporting any sick or injured person from the scene of any accident or disaster or emergency situation to or from a hospital clinic or other location where professional medical care is available. The word "ambulance" may not be used, in part or in its entirety, by any vehicle except as herein defined. B. Ambulance Attendant, First Aid Vehicle Operator, Emergency Medical Technician shall mean an individual , including drivers, certified in accordance with Section 6. C. Ambulance Service/Company shall mean any person who operates an ambulance within the City of Everett which meets standards as described in Section 2 herein which repeatedly conveys injured or sick patients. Ambulance service/companies shall also include: 1 . Primary Ambulance Company shall mean a private ambulance company which has a contract with the City pursuant to Section 13 of this ordinance undertaking to effect transportation of patients by referral of the City and which maintains at least two (2) fully equipped manned and operable ambulances within the City at all times. 2. Secondary Ambulance Company shall mean any private ambulance company which has a contract with the City pursuant to Section 13 of this ordinance to respond in the event the primary ambulance company is not
