• <br /> EL/E?ETT <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1817-91 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing standards and training to regulate <br /> ambulance and certain emergency first aid services and <br /> transportation and repealing Ordinance Nos. 570-78, 781 -81 <br /> and 835-82 (Chapter 5.72 EMC) and all other ordinances in <br /> conflict herewith. <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Everett to establish <br /> standards and training to regulate ambulance and certain emergency first aid <br /> services and transportation within its corporate limits; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1 : Definitions. <br /> A. Ambulance shall mean any privately or publicly owned vehicle that <br /> is equipped and used for transporting any sick or injured person from the <br /> scene of any accident or disaster or emergency situation to or from a <br /> hospital clinic or other location where professional medical care is <br /> available. The word "ambulance" may not be used, in part or in its <br /> entirety, by any vehicle except as herein defined. <br /> B. Ambulance Attendant, First Aid Vehicle Operator, Emergency <br /> Medical Technician shall mean an individual , including drivers, certified in <br /> accordance with Section 6. <br /> C. Ambulance Service/Company shall mean any person who operates an <br /> ambulance within the City of Everett which meets standards as described in <br /> Section 2 herein which repeatedly conveys injured or sick patients. <br /> Ambulance service/companies shall also include: <br /> 1 . Primary Ambulance Company shall mean a private <br /> ambulance company which has a contract with the City <br /> pursuant to Section 13 of this ordinance undertaking <br /> to effect transportation of patients by referral of <br /> the City and which maintains at least two (2) fully <br /> equipped manned and operable ambulances within the <br /> City at all times. <br /> 2. Secondary Ambulance Company shall mean any private <br /> ambulance company which has a contract with the City <br /> pursuant to Section 13 of this ordinance to respond <br /> in the event the primary ambulance company is not <br />
