The intent of this <br /> joint effort is to investigate and apprehend local, state and federal fugitives, thereby improving public safety <br /> and reducing violent crime. The Everett Police Department would like to participate in the task force <br /> covering the Western Washington district. This Memorandum of Understanding sets forth the requirements <br /> for the Everett Police Department to participate in the task force and provides an explanation of the resources <br /> and funding available to the department of a result of that participation. Qualified expenses incurred by the <br /> Everett Police Department, including overtime costs, will be eligible for reimbursement by the USMS. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Authorize the Mayor to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Marshals Service <br /> regarding participation in the Violent Offender Task Force. <br /> 7 <br />
