The intent of this joint effort is to investigate and apprehend local, state and federal fugitives, thereby improving public safety and reducing violent crime. The Everett Police Department would like to participate in the task force covering the Western Washington district. This Memorandum of Understanding sets forth the requirements for the Everett Police Department to participate in the task force and provides an explanation of the resources and funding available to the department of a result of that participation. Qualified expenses incurred by the Everett Police Department, including overtime costs, will be eligible for reimbursement by the USMS. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Marshals Service regarding participation in the Violent Offender Task Force. 7
