Deb Williams
From: Jim Iles
Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 12:37 PM
To: Deb Williams
Cc: Debra Bryant; Ramsey Ramerman
Subject: draft procedures
Deb,
This includes our edits per direction from last week's Council Meeting. I have also spoken to Paul per direction from last
week, and have incorporated his edits as well.
1- Remarks and Debates. The language in the introduction is suggested by Paul as well as the language deleted in
Section A. As I understand his concerns, he simply wants to say they defer the running of the meetings to the
presiding officer unless a majority determines otherwise. The language in Section C is our language trying to
address concerns raised last Wednesday. In the note we point out that this new section is largely unnecessary
since they have the authority to call for the question.
2- Public Comment. Section G is rewritten to better define "campaign" as discussed last week.
3- Filling Vacancies. This is Paul's suggested language. He thought Council should define the process at the time
rather than trying to do it upfront. He did want to mention public out-reach.
4- Executive Session. Obviously it is your call on whether to keep it or not. Ramsey is going to call you to give you
his thoughts.
Thank you.
Jim
r
4-11-12 DRAFT City
Council Pro...
1
