City Council Staff Report <br /> Comprehensive Plan map amendment and rezone of the previous Fire <br /> District 1 Firehouse, located near Silver Lake <br /> A. Introduction: <br /> The .44 acre subject property is located on the east side of 19th Avenue SE,north of 120th Street SE. <br /> It is near the City Park area at the southeast portion of Silver Lake. The new private owner of the <br /> previous Fire District One firehouse seeks to use the building for office and retail use. <br /> The proposed action is to amend the Comprehensive Plan designation from 1.6 (Multiple Family)to <br /> 4.1 (Neighborhood Business), and to rezone the property from R-3 (Multiple Family)to B-1 <br /> (Community Business). <br /> B. Background: <br /> 1. This property is in the Silver Lake neighborhood. Staff met with the neighborhood on February <br /> 2"d of this year. <br /> 2. In meetings to discuss potential zoning,the applicant has indicated support for the B-1 zone. <br /> 3. Planning Commission held a public hearing on March 6, 2012 to consider the request. Following <br /> the hearing Planning Commission passed a Resolution supporting the proposed Comprehensive <br /> Plan amendment and rezone. <br /> 4.
