2 the trap-neuter-return of feral cats; and a shelter that fully provides for the medical, social, behavioral needs of its animals. Best Friends believes strongly that we are moving toward a time when our nation will no longer kill homeless animals because of space, convenience, or a lack of alternatives, and when all healthy and treatable animals who enter our shelters will be saved. King County has an opportunity to bring us one significant step closer to that goal, not only by becoming one of the safest communities in the country for homeless animals, but by becoming an example for all to follow. The fight may be tough, but I urge you not to give up on your noble and achievable goal, and to see it through to a successful end. I look forward to attending the Town Hall meeting that you have scheduled for April 14 in Burien,Washington. In advance of this meeting, Best Friends will be sponsoring a Rally for the Animals. We know that this issue can lend itself to bitter and divisive political battles, and we hope, through this rally, to remind everyone to remain focused on the interests of the animals who are unable to speak for themselves.
