Mr. Peterson <br /> responded withi he next two weeks. <br /> 1t' <br /> 6:34:08 PM <br /> Item 2: Public Hearing and Recommendations on the Comprehensive Plan Amendments and Rezones <br /> for 2011/2012 annual update <br /> Chair Sosin read an introduction regarding the public hearing process and asked if any of the <br /> Commissioners knew of any conflicts or concerns with any of the matters before the Commission or any <br /> reason that should cause a member to avoid participating in the hearing. There was no response. <br /> Chair Sosin asked if there was any objection from the audience to any of the Commissioners <br /> participation on the docket items. There was no response. <br /> I <br /> 6:35:55 PM <br /> Bob Larsen, City staff, distributed a comment letter from Snohe ish County regarding the Smith Island <br /> expansion. •He also distributed a handout of the powerpoint p esentation with a corrected slide. <br /> Mr. Larsen stated that the Firehouse Comprehensive Plan a ?endment and rezone is located at 12011 <br /> 19th Ave SW. The request is to amend the Comprehensive Ian designation from 1.6 (Multiple Family) <br /> to 4.1(Neighborhood Business) and rezone from R-3 (Mul .le Family)to B-1 (Neighborhood Business). <br /> The objective is to convert the allowed use to office and r'tail. The previous use was a fire station for <br /> Fire District#1. He presented a graphic of the site. Mr. :rsen asked if there were any questions. <br /> 6:37:49 PM <br /> Commissioner Murphy asked if the structure had alw. s been used as a fire house. Mr. Larsen <br /> responded yes. Angela Larsh, Urban Concepts,4509 terlake Avenue North#148, Seattle,WA 98103, <br /> stated that she was representing the Applicant, Ric etzner who is the property owner. Mr. Metzner <br /> purchased the property from Fire District#1 when e property was sold as surplus. The property has <br /> been underutilized since the purchase. She felt t .t the property was uniquely located to serve the <br /> community as a neighborhood business. The B-1 one is preferred because it does provide a range of <br /> uses which is appropriate for the scale and loca en of the property. The zoning would also allow a <br /> residential component if they chose to do a mi -d use project.
