• <br /> CITY OF EVERETT <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 12-10 <br /> A Resolution Recommending City Council <br /> Approve The Zoning On The West Portion From <br /> .M-2 (Heavy Industrial)to WI (Single Family) <br /> The Forgotten Creek Rezone <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett adopted a Comprehensive Plan in August, 1994, in conformance <br /> with the Washington State Growth Management Act, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett completed its 10 year update to the Comprehensive Plan with <br /> City Council adoption on July 20,2005, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Growth Management Act,codified as Chapter 36.70A, allows for <br /> comprehensive plans to be amended on an annual basis, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett initiated its 2011 —2012 annual comprehensive plan amendment <br /> process in July of 2011, which included consideration of Land Use Map amendments and rezone <br /> applications initiated by property owners and the Everett Planning Commission, and <br /> WHEREAS,the Everett Planning Commission is making this recommendation in order to show <br /> a single and appropriate Comprehensive Plan designation and zone on the subject property, and <br /> WHEREAS, staff did meet with the affected neighborhood regarding the subject proposal on <br /> February 13, 2012; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the matter on March 6, 2012, at <br /> which time it heard from the public, and staff, and considered the various aspects of the <br /> recommendation. <br /> WHEREAS,THE PLANNING COMMISSION FINDS <br /> 1. The purpose for the requested Comprehensive Plan land use map amendment is to ensure <br /> consistency between the Comprehensive Plan map and the zoning map, and to ensure <br /> only one designation and zone are shown for this property. <br /> 2. To achieve the desired consistency between the two noted maps,the City needs to amend <br /> .the Comprehensive Plan map designation and rezone the property as follows, either: <br /> a) Set zoning to M-2, which means the underlying Comprehensive Plan map <br /> designation would need to be amended to 5.1 (Heavy Industrial), or <br /> b) Set zoning to R-1 (Single Family). Under this option there would be no need to <br /> amend the current Comprehensive Plan designation. <br /> Planning Commission Resolution 12-10 Page 1 <br />
