If the Commission initiates <br /> consideration of the requested amendment, it is not a commitme to support the amendment. The <br /> purpose is to begin a process where the City can get the amend •nt to a public notification and review <br /> of property owners in the area. In the meantime,the City can -mplete the analysis, and begin review <br /> of redevelopment potential along that part of the corridor. W h the adoption of the Downtown Plan in <br /> 2006,the City removed the off street parking requirements i r non-residential uses which encouraged <br /> the reuse of buildings in downtown core. Mr. Giffen asked ommissioners to agree to initiate <br /> consideration of the code amendment. The City will folio -up with more information after the <br /> Engineering Department completes their on-street park' g utilization analysis and the Planning <br /> Department completes their analysis of the redevelop ent potential. <br /> 7:33:29 PM <br /> Motion: Commissioner Olivers made a motion to i- itiate the process to review the code amendment as <br /> it relates to parking along the Hewitt corridor, ea of Broadway. Mr. Giff- responded no, and that Council President Gipson thought <br /> it would be helpful for business owners. <br /> Commissioner Sand stated that the size - the project and the intensity of the change would have some <br /> affect as to the difficulty of releasing t • requirement for off-street parking. Mr.Giffen stated that he is <br /> relying on the City's Engineering Dep. tment to complete their analysis before Commission is asked to <br /> make any recommendation on the . endment, that analysis should be completed. <br /> 7:35:22 PM <br /> Chair Sosin asked why the study :rea was limited. Mr. Giffen responded that the request was to keep <br /> the amendment centered on •witt Avenue.
