SHANNON 6WILSON,INC.
soil in front of the existing bulkhead along the full length of Segments A and B. Dredging will
also be performed in front of portions of the 14th Street and Segments C bulkheads. We
understand that the dredging would be performed to an elevation of about -+3 feet at the toe of
the bulkheads then sloped at 2.5H:1 V to an elevation of-12 feet. At Segment A, contaminated
soil will be removed from a localized area behind (east of)the existing bulkhead. We understand
that the sides of the excavation, made to remove the contaminated soil, will be sloped. We
understand that MNE has evaluated the feasibility of temporary support options for the existing
bulkheads for the dredged condition, but that design of the temporary support would be the
responsibility of the Contractor.
We understand that a pile-supported viewing platfonn will be constructed at the corner of
Segment A at about Station 0+00 (see Figure 2). The proposed platform is intended 161-
pedestrian
orpedestrian usage.
1.4 Review of Existing Information
The Port and MNE provided available existing subsurface and bulkhead information. This
information included plans, reports, and other data from various studies that have been
performed in the project vicinity. The following information was reviewed as part of our
analyses:
■ Landau Associates, 2006, Draft Report, Geotechnical Engineering Services, Proposed
Everett South Marina Improvements, Everett, Washington, May 18.
■ NINE, 2011, Technical Memorandum, East Marina Bulkhead Replacement
Segments A and B, Condition Re-assessment and Replacement Alternatives, July 7.
■ Pacific Geomatic Services, Inc., 2006, Topographic Survey, Everett Marina North,
January 24.
■ Reid Middleton, 2005, Port of Everett, 14th Street Bulkhead Replacement
Construction Plans, February 7.
■ URS Corporation, 2002, Report of Geotechnical Investigation Port of Everett, North
Marina Bulkhead, December 30
We used two historic borings performed in 1964 to supplement our field explorations. The
approximate locations of these borings are shown in Figure 2. This historic subsurface
information is included in Appendix A.
21-1-21761-003-R I f docx/wp/cIp 21-1-21761-003
3
