Basically, I don't really see much in the drainage manual in regards to on-site drainage design for patio areas. In
order to help mitigate the potential drainage impacts from the concrete patio installed behind the new house, I've
proposed to heavy amend the soils between the concrete patio and the existing fence along with installing some low
growing vine maple trees along the fence line to help soak up any runoff traveling from the patio towards the off-site
stream. Let me know if you think this is a reasonable mitigation measure to address the recent violation on the project.
Only other option I can think of would he to install a 2' wide by 2' deep gravel trench the length of the back fence line to
help infiltrate some of the runoff. Not sure on the existing restrictive soil depths though so not sure if that's a viable
option.
Let me know your thoughts on the matter, thanks.
Jesse Jarrell, P.E.
9740 Evergreen Way ***NEW LOCATION***
Everett, WA 98204
425-356-2700 xt.106
www.wesi.co
-----Original Message-----
From:Jesse Jarrell [mailto:iessei@wesi.co]
Sent: Monday, November 09, 2015 5:03 PM
To: 'Lance Harvey'
Subject: RE: 29 and 31 112th st Drainaige
Here's what I've got for approximate locations of the rear cont patio and fence in red. Basically noted to install 6" depth
of top soil and plant some low growing vine maple to help soak up some of the runoff. Other than this, about the only
other option would probably be to install a 2' wide by 2' deep gravel trench between the patio and the fence to help
infiltrate some of the runoff. Let me know your thoughts.
Jesse Jarrell, P.E.
9740 Evergreen Way ***NEW LOCATION***
Everett,WA 98204
425-356-2700 xt.106
www.wesi.co
