Kirk Brooks
From: Jane Zimmerman
Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2015 8:11 AM
To: Kirk Brooks
Cc: 'Jesse Jarrell'; 'Lance Harvey'
Subject: RE: 29 and 31 112th st Drainaige
Hi Kirk-
I apologize profusely- I completely forgot about this issue! That's what being out of the office for five days does to me...
Anyhow, I think they need to do a rain garden in the area between the patio and the fence to mitigate for the additional
pavement, especially since the pavement is likely to be parked upon. Therefore, I would like for them to excavate a
shallow bioretention cell/swale in the space between the pavement and the fence, with the low side being the fence
side. The bioretention area must provide at least 8" of ponding depth, with the soils heavily amended - as Jesse
suggests below- and planted with rain garden zone 1 and 2 vegetation. Vegetation can be chosen from the WSU Rain
Garden Handbook for Western Washington, which is available for download at the following link:
https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/publications/SummaryPages/1310027.html
Thank you,
Jane
-----Original Message-----
From: Kirk Brooks
Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2015 7:49 AM
To:Jane Zimmerman
Subject: FW: 29 and 31 112th st Drainaige
Jane z,
Have you had a chance to consider what Jesse is talking about?
Thanks, Kirk
-----Original Message-----
From:Jesse Jarrell [mailto:jessej@wesi.co]
Sent: Tuesday, November 10, 2015 2:00 PM
To:Jane Zimmerman
Cc: Kirk Brooks; 'Lance Harvey'
Subject: RE: 29 and 31 112th st Drainaige
Jane, I realized earlier that we actually designed this plat back in 1997-2000. 1 was able to pull our job file out of archives
and look at the site design. Per review of the old report and drawings, only lots 1-7 (and the private road) of the plat
were designed and accounted for in the detention system sizing under the private road. Lots 8-11 (project located on lot
11) were only specified with draining the roof drains to a infiltration/dispersion trench along the 25' stream setback with
no sizing or impervious areas notated for any lot.
1
