Planning Commission Meeting Minutes
June 19, 2012
9:05:42 PM
Chad Jackson,2112 Hewitt, stated that he has three parking spots and has made a sign that there is no
event parking in front of his business. One parking spot means him staying open or closing. He
mentioned that during the graduation ceremonies at the Events Center last week, parking impacts were
created in front of his business. He stated that if someone planned to park on the street in front of his
business and there was nowhere else to park, they would have to go down to Lowe's turn around and
go back up Pacific to find parking. He has 8 parking spots to share with another business. More parking
in the area would be better. Most people will not turn around to find parking.
Chair Sosin stated that Commission would not be taking action on the matter tonight but there will be
another presentation on July 17th
9:09:02 PM
Commissioner Olivers asked if the extent of the outreach to businesses had been in the form of a mass
mailing. Mr. Giffen responded yes. He felt it was odd that not all the property owners in the area had
attended and wondered if staff could provide another mailing. Mr. Giffen commented that they could
do another mailing and possibly an informational open house prior to the next Planning Commission
meeting.
9:10:17 PM
Commissioner Murphy would like to see the City re-inform the property owners since the regulations
have changed since the last Planning Commission review.
