Following federal rules the City of Everett formed a redevelopment authority to process selection of a new user for the Center to benefit the homeless. Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County was the agency selected to receive the facility and to create a shelter for its clients. This selection was approved by the federal government and Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County has taken possession of the property. The City of Everett is providing$272,821.67 in Community Development Block Grant Funds to Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County for their Everyone Deserves to be Safe shelter(formerly known as the Oswald Army Reserve Center). The City also has set aside$86,233.16 in 2060 Housing Trust Funds for construction costs related to the shelter. That contract will be provided to City Council for approval at a future Council meeting. • • RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign the Community Development Block Grant Agreement with Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County for the Everyone Deserves to be Safe shelter.
