_ ;;;- <br /> EVERETT <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE levying the general taxes for the City of Everett for fiscal year • <br /> commencing January 1, 2013,on all taxable property,bothreal and personal,subject to <br /> taxation thereon,for the purpose of raising a portion of the revenue to carry on City <br /> operations for the ensuing year, as required by the Charter of the City of Everett and <br /> • the laws of the State of Washington <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Everett duly and regularly adopts as required by <br /> law the estimate of the amounts required to meet the public expense of said City for the <br /> ensuing year and the amount to be raised by taxation in said City for said ensuing year from <br /> sources other than direct taxation; and • <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Everett is considering its budget for the calendar <br /> year 2013; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council, in the course of considering the budget for 2013,reviews all <br /> sources of revenue and examines all anticipated expenses and obligations; and . <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council finds that in order to meet the rising cost of providing essential <br /> public services,a substantial need exists to increase regular property tax collections by one <br /> percent as provided for in RCW 84.55.0101; and <br /> WHEREAS,the qualified electors of the City voted approval in 2010 of a levy lid lift for <br /> additional regular property tax in an amount equal to a maximum of$0.50 per thglusand <br /> dollars of the assessed value of property in the City for funding an emergency medical <br /> services program; and <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,T F. CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That there be,and hereby is,levied upon real and personal property in the City <br /> of Everett, subject to taxation thereon,a general property tax for municipal _ • <br /> purposes for the ensuing year commencing on January 1,2013, as follows: <br /> REGULAR PROPERTY TAX LEVY <br /> The Everett City Council hereby authorizes the property tax levy for collection <br /> in the year 2013 at$33,062,252 (including a$327,349 increase in dollar amount, <br /> which is a 1%increase over the amount of taxes lawfully levied by the City in <br /> 2012),plus an estimated$450,000 from new construction,improvements to <br /> 2 <br />
