Challacombe, a successful funeral director, is one of the leading business men of > <br /> cot <br /> Everett, in which city he has made his home for a quarter of a century, and was formerly " gre <br /> - county coroner. He was born November 18, 1861, in Medora, Illinois, and his parents were 4 to <br /> Nicholas and Nancy G. (Carson) Challacombe. He was reared on his father's farm, attend- to <br /> n <br /> ing the schools of the locality, and afterward was a student at Blackman University, also com- yf• sev <br /> pleting a course in the Brown Business College while in Illinois. He followed the occupa- to <br /> tion of farming for several years and in May, 1901, came to Everett, becoming owner of the f Me <br /> undertaking establishment of O. A. Phelps and later located at 2812 Rockefeller street In sta <br /> 1921 Mr. Challacombe was joined by Charles H. She had become the mother of two the <br /> sons. Stowell, the elder, is associated with his father in business. He is married and has 1^} <br /> two daughters, Eileen and Nan. Arthur enlisted in the United States marines and won a eld <br /> lieutenant's commission. He is also married and the father of.one child, Arthur, Jr. >� Coo <br /> Mr. Challacombe is an earnest member of the First Presbyterian church and for twenty- t <br /> five years has been one of its elders. He is allied with the republican party and served for four <br /> years as county coroner, displaying rare qualities as a public official. He is a Knight Templar shi <br /> Mason and Shriner and is also connected with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the = H< <br /> Woodmen of the World, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Modern Woodmen lar <br /> of America. He has been honored with the presidency of the state board of examiners for <br /> embalmers and is now filling that office. He also belongs to the Lions Club and was at one <br /> time the executive head of the local organization. Mr. Challacombe is a business man of high <br /> standing, and during the period of his residence in Everett he has lent the weight of his sup- <br /> port to every project for public growth and betterment, thoroughly demonstrating his worth <br /> as a citizen. <br /> co <br /> 's Cl <br /> H <br /> FRED SCHOTT ti W <br /> A: <br /> Fred Schott is a member of an old and highly respected family of Snohomish and head of an <br /> the firm of Shott Brothers, meat dealers, whose establishment is a credit to its owners and to an <br /> the town in which it is operated. Mr. Schott was born September 8, 1881, and is a native of in <br /> Cleveland, Ohio. His parents, Fred and Emma J. Schott, came to Snohomish in 1896 and the Sc <br /> father afterward made investments in real estate, owning much valuable property in the town. at <br /> { an <br />
