We will now open the public hearing for this
nomination.
The purpose of this hearing is:
• To provide factual information about the proposed project or action to the general
public and to the Historical Commission.
• To provide a fair, open and orderly forum for public comment and questions.
• To identify issues to be considered as part of the decision.
We will begin with the property owner's presentation.
Andy Hall: My wife and I are the owners of 2727 Oakes, the building we are speaking
about tonight. In 2007 my wife and I bought the funeral home from Ruth Precht's estate.
Ruth Precht's husband was a funeral director and was part of the Challacombe and Fickel
group. The building was built as a funeral home in 1923, and in 1984 it ceased being a
funeral home but stayed in the possession of the Precht family until we bought it in 2007.
