RESOLUTION NO, 6 2 2 7 <br /> A RESOLUTION establishing the time for City <br /> Council's regularly scheduled meetings,repealing <br /> Resolution No. 6101 <br /> Whereas, Article III, Section 3.2 of the City Charter provides that the City Council is to <br /> meet at least once each week in City Hall at such times as may be fixed by ordinance or <br /> resolution. It further provides that at least one regular meeting shall be held each month in the <br /> evening after 6:30 pm. EMC 2.08.010 (A) provides that the weekly meetings shall be on <br /> Wednesdays between the hours of eight am and 11:59 pm; and <br /> Whereas, on January 7, 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 6101 providing <br /> "effective January 21, 2009, the City Council shall hold its regular weekly meetings in city <br /> council chambers each Wednesday at 6:30 pm;" and <br /> Whereas, the City Council finds having had the night meeting schedule for the past year, <br /> that there is now a desire to return to the previous meeting time schedule with the regularly <br /> scheduled Wednesday Council meetings commencing at 8:30 am every Wednesday of the month <br /> except for the third Wednesday at which time the meeting commences at 6:30 pm; and <br /> Whereas, the City Council finds certain issues are such that they should be considered by <br /> Council at a night meeting and, by virtue of this Resolution, Council will endeavor to consider <br /> such issues at a regularly scheduled evening Council meeting; and <br /> Whereas, the City Council finds that the formal establishment of the Council meeting <br /> time is an important issue for the public, Council, City Administration as well as staff and as <br /> such, any change in this Resolution will only be considered by Council at a regularly scheduled <br /> Council meeting following its placement on the Council's agenda; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT: <br /> Commencing January 13, 2010, the City C• .s cil's regularly s i eduled Wednesday <br /> weekly meeting will commence at 8:30 am except or the t ' d Wednesda of each month, at <br /> which time the regularly scheduled m- •: will •mmence a( 0 pm.
