• TranTech will work from the as-built plans and the inventory inspection report to provide
the most accurate condition for the load rating calculations.
• Existing load rating analysis will be reviewed and utilized to the extent possible.
• Some existing load rating analysis may be of little or no use for the update process
requiring a complete re-rating.
• No substructure load rating is performed.
Task 2—Funding Assistance
A Federal Bridge Program Call for Projects has been advertised. Task 2 consists of assisting the
City in the development of a bridge replacement/rehabilitation application package to be
submitted to Bridge Replacement Advisory Committee(BRAC) for the Merrill&Ring and
Edgewater bridges carrying the Mukilteo Blvd. facility. The information obtained from Task 1
activities will be utilized in this Task.
For Merrill&Ring Bridge, first a viable rehabilitation alternative will be developed for
strengthening the existing bridge elements that have rating factors below 1.0.Next, construction
cost estimation activities for the chosen rehabilitation scheme will be undertaken.
Moreover, TranTech's team will perform a preliminary seismic retrofit assessment for the
Merrill &Ring Bridge and our team will prepare a construction cost estimate for viable seismic
retrofit measurements that match well with the aforementioned rehabilitation scheme. The
seismic retrofit cost will be included for a separate submittal as a Seismic Program project for
funding consideration.
For Edgewater Bridge, first a minimum of two viable bridge replacement alternatives will be
studied and the results and recommendations will be communicated to the City. Following
obtaining guidance from the City regarding the alternative of choice, construction cost estimation
activities for the chosen bridge replacement scheme will be developed.
TranTech will prepare a structural assessment memos for the both bridges and will submit them
to the City.
TranTech will provide overall assistance for the initial submittal package preparation per the Call
for Projects requirements and deadlines. Also included, will be continued support through the
spring and summer candidate review period and through the funding meeting in the Fall of 2017.
Deliverables
• Structural Assessment Memos for Edgewater and Merrill &Ring.
• Draft&Final BRAC applications for Edgewater and Merrill &Ring bridges by 4/2/17.
Task 3—Miscellaneous Bridge Program Support
TranTech will provide miscellaneous engineering support under the supervision of the City
Engineer, Mr. Ryan Sass, PE. Anticipated work will include peer reviews, misc. structural
design, field inspections and reconnaissance, and other desired structural services, as needed
on identified future tasks.
City of Everett Bridge Program Engineering Support--SCOPE OF WORK Page 3
TRANTECH ENGINEERING
