City of Everett Human Needs Grant
January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017
Camp Fire Snohomish County
Mega Club
EXHIBIT A: Program Summary
Mega Club for children and youth in subsidized housing centers and includes children at
risk at the Domestic Violence Center, where they will be provided health and safety
education, self-reliance courses, be mentored by caring adults and learn to develop
critical thinking strategies for healthy lifestyles. While the youth participate in activities
in a fun environment, they will build self-esteem, self-worth, and social skills including
conflict resolution which will lead to success in school and prevent violence and
delinquent behaviors. Children learn best while they work through structured, social
activities embedded with goals and objectives. Making good choices and having a ready
excuse to avoid negative behavior helps youth stay out of trouble as they develop
healthy habits. Positive social interactions reinforce good choices. Prevention in this
high risk group is important and far less expensive than rehabilitative solutions. An "I
Can Do It Robotics" program will be introduced this year to provide STEM activities
designed to bring an increased level of interactive education to this population. At Camp
Fire, our curriculum is designed for experiential learning and developing healthy lifelong
habits.
