Alternative 2 <br /> • No additional property acquisition is required. <br /> • Two separate fenced athletic field areas are provided that offer a clear separation of games. <br /> • There is no large neighborhood open space, only a few small natural grass open lawn ar- <br /> eas. Neighborhood activities draw people to the center of the site. <br /> • A signalized crossing at Summit Avenue is suggested. No crosswalk is shown on the south <br /> side due to proximity to the southbound 1-5 entrance ramp. <br /> • Although the main parking lot is centrally located, it divides the site requiring pedestrians to <br /> pass through or around it between key park activities. There are a total of 126 parking stalls: <br /> main lot in center of park = 103 stalls; one accessible parking stall associated with commu- <br /> nity gardens; southeast overflow parking lot associated with athletic fields, view terrace and <br /> arboretum = 22 stalls. Access to main lot is from corner of 18th Street and State Street. <br /> • The community garden shows 75 garden plots with no community garden shed. The gar- <br /> dens have a lighted access drive with adjacent drop-off/hammerhead turn around. <br /> • There are two baseball/softball fields with 300' outfields and batting cages. <br /> • One 240' x 360' and one 210' x 300' soccer field are shown. The largest soccer field is at <br /> west end of park where neighbors are not accustomed to lighted athletic fields. <br /> • A full basketball court (or 2 half courts) is centrally located and visible from parking lot. <br /> • The existing picnic shelter remains in its current location with a matching picnic shelter <br /> added nearby. The picnic shelters are closely associated with play area and open lawn, and <br /> convenient to parking. <br /> • The restroom is centrally located and visible from parking and the street. Park users must <br /> cross parking lot from the east fields to get to restroom. <br /> • The play area is located near the restroom, parking, and basketball court, and is fairly close <br /> to athletic field spectator area, picnic shelter and open lawn. <br /> • An arboretum is shown in the southeast corner of site (separated from the rest of the park by <br /> Summit Avenue). A new pathway connection is shown to the Summit Ave/E. Marine View <br /> Drive intersection. Existing significant trees south of Summit Avenue are preserved or trans- <br /> planted. <br /> • The loop perimeter path includes a path that follows the route of the existing concrete side- <br /> walk near Summit Avenue and E. Marine View Drive. <br /> • Two maintenance/storage sheds shown adjacent to the athletic fields are conveniently lo- <br /> cated for park maintenance staff. <br /> • Terraced plant beds soften the walls between the view terrace and the fields. <br /> • Accessible ramps shown from the view terrace to Summit Avenue level and to the end of <br /> Highland Avenue. <br /> 20 City of Everett <br />
