SOLE SOURCE JUSTIFICATION Requisition Item: Opticom Central Management System Requisition Number: Prior Purchase Order Number(if item had been approved previously): 1. Please describe the item and its function: Everett operates approximately 180 traffic signals. These traffic signals use Opticom vehicle pre-emption system for providing green traffic lights to fire and other emergency vehicles. Everett is using this same equipment to implement transit signal priority for SWIFT buses. This central management software allows Everett to configure and manage the Opticom equipment for the transit signal priority at the traffic signals in Everett. The Opticom Intersection equipment will be installed where Swift Buses will be travelling along in Everett to identify and distinguish Swift buses from emergency vehicles. 2. Ability to configure and manage Opticom pre-emption equipment used by Everett at our signalized intersections. 4. What steps were taken to verify that these features are not available elsewhere? ❑ Other brands/manufacturers were examined(please list phone numbers and names,and explain why these were not suitable) Tomar is an alternate maker of pre-emption equipment,but is not used by Everett.
