I <br /> CITY OF EVERETT, WASHINGTON <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> ' DIVISION 5 <br /> SURFACE TREATMENTS AND PAVEMENTS <br /> 5-04 HOT MIX ASPHALT <br /> SECTION 5-04.3(8)A OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS AMENDED BY THE <br /> 1 FOLLOWING: <br /> 5-04.3(8)A General <br /> Nonstatistical evaluation will be used for the acceptance of HMA for this project. <br /> The Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) for mix design for the following area are: <br /> Colby Avenue—8,000,000.00 <br /> 112th Street SE—9,500,000.00 <br /> Seaway Blvd— 10,000,000.00 <br /> E. Casino Rd—9,200,000.00 <br /> ' Hardeson Road—8,200,000.00 <br /> California Street- 7,100,000.00 <br /> Beverly Blvd—6,500,000.00 <br /> Hewitt Avenue—9,500,000.00 <br /> The mix design will be the initial JMF for the class of HMA. The contractor may request a <br /> change in the JMF. Any adjustment to the JMF will require the approval of the Project Engineer <br /> and may be made in accordance with Section 9-03.8(7). <br /> ' SECTION 5-4.3(14) OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS DELETED AND REPLACED <br /> WITH THE FOLLOWING: <br /> 5-04.3(14) Planing Bituminous Pavement <br /> The Contractor shall call for locates before planing any HMA pavement. Any induction loop vehicle <br /> detectors which are within the planing area shall be discussed with the inspector prior to planing to see <br /> if the planing limits can be modified to save the loops. Any loops which are damaged in the planing <br /> ' process shall be replaced prior to the final overlay. The electrical subcontractor shall be on-call and the <br /> loops shall be replaced within 5 working days of the planing operation. See Section 8-20 of the <br /> Specifications for details on loop installation and payment. <br /> I Planing shall be performed in such a manner that the underlying pavement is not torn, broken, or <br /> otherwise damaged by the planing operation. The surface of the underlying pavement shall be slightly <br /> grooved or roughened sufficiently to ensure a bond when overlaid. All areas to be ground shall be <br /> Icompleted with a grinder. The use of other methods must be approved by the Engineer. <br /> The planings shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be removed from the right-of-way. <br /> The planings may be utilized as RAP, within the requirements of Section 5-04.2 or 9-03.21.
