- 1
.*: , ransztzons eam
People Solutions.. . .Business Results
PROPOSAL FOR SERVICES
For The City of Everett Public Works Group — April, 2017
Consultant: Kathy Jinguji
Team Composition:
Leaders: Tony Lee and Paul McKee
Three Development Techs
Eight Inspectors
Two Counter Techs
Two Records Techs
Team Discord (primarily between two individuals, but with ripple effect for rest of department)
o James Bronder (new employee—just reached 90-day mark) replaced long-standing employee
(now retired) who took wealth of knowledge with him without adequate transfer of information,
yet James is a quick-study and very self-confident and is picking it up quickly. As a result, Meg
is feeling disrespected and brushed aside.
o Meg Haley—female in a male dominated environment; frustrated with lack of promotion; going
head to head with James. This is not Meg's first getting along issue; she has a history of going
to HR with problems which has been exacerbated by her lack of promotion. Despite this history,
there is some validity to Meg's reaction to James. Their relationship undoubtedly also reflects a
generational gap in style and manner.
Others Impacted
o Paul McKee — manages James and Meg; a thirty year employee; reports to Tony Lee (Building
Official); Due to the discord between James and Meg, Paul has assumed primary responsibility
for training James. The positive aspect to this is that Paul know code better than almost
anyone. The negative aspect is that the issue of discord between James and Meg is being
allowed to fester.
Estimated Hours
o Initial Meeting with Brian Jones by phone .5 (Completed)
On First Visit to Everett:
o Follow-up intake with Brian, Tony and Paul (Everett) 3.0
o Initial Meeting with Meg
o Initial Meeting with James
o Follow-up telecom to report findings and discuss next steps .5
1
