City of Everett 2017 Human Needs Grant
Exhibit A Program Description
The objective of our Disaster Relief efforts is to meet our clients' emergency-related needs,
immediately and equitably. Our volunteers are empowered to assist with: food, clothing, shelter,
bedding, lost prescriptions and other emergency needs on a case by case basis. The first objective
is simple - ensure that the family has adequate food, shelter, and clothing for the night. In a
single family home fire that may mean 3 nights hotel stay and a voucher for food and clothes
Larger events like an apartment fire (i.e. Casino Road) means we will open a shelter, with food
prepared at the shelter and a voucher for clothing. Our caseworkers will then begin to working
on long-term relocation which may include first and last month's rent may be involved.
While we help people throughout Snohomish County, we are specifically asking for assistance to
help people within the city of Everett. Our client's average household income is $27,300. (More
affluent homeowners generally have insurance and require minimal assistance.) They are
typically renters without renters insurance, and minimal savings or emergency reserves.
Typically they have no reserves or savings.
Our services are provided 24/7/365, typically within 90 minutes of notification by Everett FD.
Our services are typically provided by trained volunteers including shelter workers, caseworkers,
registered nurses licensed counselors, and other volunteer specialists.
