A wall is being removed and replaced off-set from <br /> the removed wall. A new 14-6" beam will support a portion of roof on both sides and a 6'wall that <br /> supports the upper roof. There is a footing and stem wall under the line the beam will travel. This allows <br /> support at both ends and at a point T-6"from one end. <br /> Based on my site visit observations I have sized the beam. Calculations are attached. It appears a 4x8 <br /> would work given the load but we decided to upsize it to a 4x10 for any unknowns about the actual <br /> support provided by the intermediate supporting wall about 7' from the proposed beam. <br /> Supporting calculations are attached.
