RESOLUTION NO. 3 /5-e) <br /> A resolution acknowledging the Voter Registration Program <br /> within the City of Everett and an expression of appreciation <br /> to City employees who serve as volunteer voter registrars <br /> within the City's Municipal Offices. <br /> WHEREAS, an individual's right to vote is a fundamental right which <br /> serves as part of the basic foundation of our democracy; and <br /> WHEREAS, a substantial percentage of the voting age population is not <br /> registered to vote; and <br /> WHEREAS, government has a duty to make voter registration easily <br /> available to its citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett is in a favorable position to assist <br /> local citizens in registering to vote; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has taken positive steps to train <br /> selected volunteers to provide voter registration assistance; and <br /> WHEREAS, these volunteer voter registrars are located in the Main <br /> Library, Branch Library, Parks Department, Public Works Department and City <br /> Hall; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett now states its appreciation to those <br /> volunteer voter registrars that provide voter registration assistance to <br /> citizens. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT hereby encourages all citizens to <br /> become registered voters and will assist all citizens in the voter <br /> registration process as an integr. part of our democratic process. <br /> �" Co• cil ember Introducing Resolution <br /> Apr. 5, 1989 .f — <br /> President <br /> (2676B/2) <br />
