w , <br /> RESOLUTION #.36 6f <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to <br /> execute the 1988 Human Needs contracts <br /> totaling $58,477 <br /> WHEREAS , the City Council allocates funding each year of Council <br /> Contingency monies to be used for human services programs ; and <br /> WHEREAS, there exists in the community a need for monies to <br /> supplement human services programs ; and <br /> WHEREAS , the Human Needs Advisory Committee, formed to make <br /> recommendations to the City Council for allocation of these funds <br /> annually, has voted to recommend funding as listed below: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL that <br /> the Mayor be authorized to execute a contract with each of the below <br /> listed agencies in the amount specified for the purpose stated: <br /> 1) OPEN DOOR THEATRE - fund performance of two applied <br /> theatre presentations presented to elementary school <br /> children in E.S .D. #2 $ 4,850 <br /> 2) LUTHER CHILD CENTER - purchase Social Skills training <br /> package including 8 video tapes , a leader' s guide and <br /> student materials for Adolescent Day Treatment Program $ 1 ,400 <br /> 3) DEACONESS CHILDREN'S SERVICES - fund IMPACT, Child <br /> Abuse and Neglect Prevention program $ 4,000 <br /> 4) GIRLS CLUB OF EVERETT - fund "Breaking the Cycle" , <br /> new program to help young people deal with issues <br /> such as alcoholism, abuse , domestic violence, teen <br /> pregnancy, suicide and low self-esteem $ 3,500 <br /> 5) FAMILY COUNSELING SERVICE - fund 12-week combined <br /> group therapy and parenting skills program for group <br /> of low-income, single parents who have abused, or are <br /> at risk of abusing their children $ 2 ,225 <br /> 6) MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES OF SNO. CO. - fund parent <br /> education classes for parents referred by DCFS <br /> for present or potential abuse and neglect of <br /> children $ 3,988 <br /> 7) PROVIDENCE SEXUAL ASSAULT CENTER - purchase <br /> photocolposcope to use in forensic examinations <br /> of child sexual abuse victims in Snohomish County $10,000 <br /> 8) PREGNANCY AID OF SNO. CO. - fund general operating <br /> expenses for funding pre-natal vitamins , diapers , <br /> "special needs" baby formula, telephone help-line, <br /> parenting education materials and emergency medical , <br /> food and housing needs $ 2,400 <br /> 9) AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION - fund Medical Bank $ 750 <br />
