1 RESOLUTION NO. ��, 2 A RESOLUTION establishing a Youth Ad Hoc Advisory Committee. 3 4 WHEREAS, through the adoption of Ordinance No. 634-79 the City has 5 established a Youth Advisory Committee composed of local high school youth 6 for the purpose of providing them with a forum to express their views and 7 provide advice to the City; and 8 WHEREAS, the Youth Advisory Committee has not functioned for a number 9 of years; and 10 WHEREAS, while the Youth Advisory Committee focused on the traditional 11 high school setting and ages, there exist a number of youth in Everett as 12 well as in other communities who are not active in their schools or who do 13 not attend traditional schools or attend any school at all who have special 14 needs and concerns which would probably not be addressed through the Youth 15 Advisory Committee; and 16 WHEREAS, the City should study the needs of all its middle school and 17 high school aged youth who are at risk to determine how best the City and 18 community can serve them; 19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 20 EVERETT THAT: 21 1 . A Youth Ad Hoc Advisory Committee is hereby establised which 22 shall consist of members from a wide variety of community organizations 23 which interface with the City's youths such as the YMCA, Boy' s and Girl 's 24 Club, Big Brother/Big Sister, Luther Child Center, Chamber of Commerce, 25 PRIDE, Phoenix Alternative School , Everett High School , Cascade High School , 26 Youth Resources Center Alternative School , Everett School Administration, 27 Teen Vision, etc. Appointments shall be made by the Mayor. 28 2. The City's Coordinator of Human and Social Services shall be the 29 City's lead staff person assigned to organize and staff the Youth Ad Hoc 30 Advisory Committee. Additionally, staff support shall be provided by the 31 City's Police Department and Parks Department. Whenever it is deemed 32 necessary, additional City staff may be asked to participate.
