1 RESOLUTION NO. ����, <br /> 2 A RESOLUTION establishing a Youth Ad Hoc Advisory Committee. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 WHEREAS, through the adoption of Ordinance No. 634-79 the City has <br /> 5 established a Youth Advisory Committee composed of local high school youth <br /> 6 for the purpose of providing them with a forum to express their views and <br /> 7 provide advice to the City; and <br /> 8 WHEREAS, the Youth Advisory Committee has not functioned for a number <br /> 9 of years; and <br /> 10 WHEREAS, while the Youth Advisory Committee focused on the traditional <br /> 11 high school setting and ages, there exist a number of youth in Everett as <br /> 12 well as in other communities who are not active in their schools or who do <br /> 13 not attend traditional schools or attend any school at all who have special <br /> 14 needs and concerns which would probably not be addressed through the Youth <br /> 15 Advisory Committee; and <br /> 16 WHEREAS, the City should study the needs of all its middle school and <br /> 17 high school aged youth who are at risk to determine how best the City and <br /> 18 community can serve them; <br /> 19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> 20 EVERETT THAT: <br /> 21 1 . A Youth Ad Hoc Advisory Committee is hereby establised which <br /> 22 shall consist of members from a wide variety of community organizations <br /> 23 which interface with the City's youths such as the YMCA, Boy' s and Girl 's <br /> 24 Club, Big Brother/Big Sister, Luther Child Center, Chamber of Commerce, <br /> 25 PRIDE, Phoenix Alternative School , Everett High School , Cascade High School , <br /> 26 Youth Resources Center Alternative School , Everett School Administration, <br /> 27 Teen Vision, etc. Appointments shall be made by the Mayor. <br /> 28 2. The City's Coordinator of Human and Social Services shall be the <br /> 29 City's lead staff person assigned to organize and staff the Youth Ad Hoc <br /> 30 Advisory Committee. Additionally, staff support shall be provided by the <br /> 31 City's Police Department and Parks Department. Whenever it is deemed <br /> 32 necessary, additional City staff may be asked to participate. <br />
