RESOLUTION NO. c297.:57 <br /> A RESOLUTION establishing a policy for <br /> public notification of annexation proposals <br /> and related comprehensive plan and zoning <br /> for the proposed annexation areas <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council desires to provide regarding public <br /> notice for proposed annexations and related comprehensive plans and zoning <br /> actions in addition to that required by law; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council has received considerable input and <br /> support for additional public notification; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The Everett City Council recognizes that the annexation process has <br /> been altered by 1987 amendments to State annexation statutes. <br /> 2. The Everett City Council recognizes that besides the legal <br /> requirements, as prescribed by State and City laws for public notice <br /> that the following additional public notice be provided for proposed <br /> annexations and related comprehensive plans and zoning actions: <br /> a. That the Planning staff work closely with the local newspapers <br /> and media to obtain exposure on proposed annexation and land <br /> use actions; and <br /> b. That known neighborhood organizations which have contacted the <br /> Planning Department and asked to be made aware of annexations <br /> and land uses that affect them, be notified of the annexation <br /> and land use proposals once the 10% petition giving Notice of <br /> Intent to Annex has been accepted; and <br /> c. That a neighborhood meeting/open house be held on the proposed <br /> annexation and associated land use/zoning if the proposal is of <br /> a significant scale and impact; and <br /> d. That those in the annexation area and those who have <br /> participated in the process who live in adjacent Snohomish <br /> County be notified when the annexation application is presented <br /> to Snohomish County.
