We have reviewed it and have
visited the site to make a tentative appraisal of fish and wildlife impacts
of the proposed project.
We note several sections of the environmental checklist are in error.
For example:
Section 3.a.3. (Water) : The statement that wetlands do not exist on the
site is in error. The entire northern fringe of the property, outside of
the dike, is salt marsh. Several small isolated wetlands also exist inside
the dike as well . These are indicated by patches of sedge and other
wetland plants.
3.c. 1. (Runoff) : The statement, "All storm drainage will be retained on
site is ludicrous at best. How will drainage be handled?
3.c.2. (waste materials) : We have yet to see a parking lot that did not
emit at least oil , gasoline, and grease into the runoff, as well as heavy
metals.
Construction activities will also probably contribute at least small
quantities of sediments, paints, solvents, etc.
How will surface water quality be protected?
•
611/1214— x#-5--
