1 RESOLUTION 1fafJ 7 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 <br /> A RESOLUTION in support of the Everett <br /> 4 Public Library' s application for Fred <br /> Meyer Charitable Trust Funds for <br /> 5 Children At Risk <br /> 6 <br /> 7 <br /> WHEREAS, 60% of all mothers with dependent children work <br /> 8 outside of the home ; and <br /> 9 WHEREAS, according to the Governor' s Task Force On Day <br /> Care, in Washington State more than 50% of women in the work <br /> 10 force have children under the age of six and this number if <br /> expected to grow to 57% by 1990 ; and <br /> 11 <br /> WHEREAS, in Snohomish County, it is estimated that 16,600 <br /> 12 children, six years or younger, require child care while their <br /> parents work; and <br /> 13 <br /> WHEREAS, increasingly, children who might have been <br /> 14 introduced to the benefits of library service by a visit to the <br /> library with their parents are now dependent on day care givers <br /> 15 who cannot provide that service; <br /> 16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL <br /> that we support the Everett Public Library' s application to the <br /> 17 Fred Meyer Charitable Trust Fund for Children At Risk in the <br /> amount of $48,000 to provide cultural support for family home <br /> 18 day care providers by giving children and family day care <br /> providers in Everett access to library materials and programs <br /> 19 ordinarily unavailable to them due to the logistics of bringing <br /> day care children to the library. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 <br /> 22 �Z% / • <br /> Council erson <br /> 23 Introducing Resolution <br /> 24 <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this c 75 4' day of (jf 2( <br /> 25 1987 . <br /> 26 <br /> / / / <br /> 27 <br /> 28 ►: .ncil Presid 'nt <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
