<br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to execute
<br /> 1986-87 "Human Needs" contracts totaling
<br /> $58,100
<br /> WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee of the Everett City Council
<br /> has ascertained by study and interview that assisting the human service
<br /> agencies listed below to help meet the continuing or one-time needs of their
<br /> various clients is a proper function of the City of Everett, and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee has voted to recommend funding,
<br /> as listed below, for these programs from the 1986. City Budget allocation for
<br /> Human Needs,
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT
<br /> that the Mayor be authorized to execute a contract with each of the below-
<br /> listed agencies in the amount specified for the purpose stated:
<br /> 1) Rainbow Resources, PO Box 778, Everett $ 1,900.00
<br /> Provide emergency and essential dental care for
<br /> mentally-ill persons without other funds
<br /> 2) Hospice of Snohomish County, PO Box 5559, Everett 2,200.00
<br /> Continue funding for bereavement follow-up program
<br /> for family members
<br /> 3) Senior Services of Sno.Cty. , 3402 112th St.S.W. , Everett 2,900.00
<br /> Provide more than one 'Meal on Wheels ' daily for
<br /> homebound frail elderly
<br /> 4) Volunteers of America, 2801 Lombard, Everett 1,500.00
<br /> Contribute to cost of walk-in refrigerator/freezer
<br /> to be used in Food Bank operations
<br /> 5) Everett Gospel Mission, PO Box 423, Everett 4,500.00
<br /> Assist with operating expenses for emergency shelters
<br /> for displaced/transient women and men
<br /> 6) Sno.Cty. Veterans Action Center, 2731 10th St. , Everett 2,400.00
<br /> Provide emergency food and rent vouchers, job-finding
<br /> and mental health counseling for Vietnam-era veterans
<br /> 7) Drug Abuse Council of Sno.Cty. , 3409 Colby, Everett 2,100.00
<br /> Support Adolescent/Family Services programs to prevent
<br /> drug/alcohol abuse from becoming addictive
<br /> 8) Evergreen/Walnut Recovery Houses, 2601 Summit Ave. , Everett600.00
<br /> Contribute to 60-day residential alcohol/drug rehab
<br /> program for homeless indigent addicts
<br /> 9) Red Cross Adult Day Health Center, 2913 W.Marine View Dr. ,Ev. 1,500.00
<br /> Provide structured weekday program for confused,
<br /> frail older adults
<br /> 10) CHAT - Chemical Health Awareness Team, 2232 Broadway, Ev.-- 1,400.00
<br /> Provide training for 'Natural Helpers ' in schools
<br /> to help their friends deal with drugs, stress, etc.
<br /> 11) Pregnancy Aid of Sno.Cty. , PO Box 1317, Everett 2,600.00
<br /> Provide emotional , practical , material support to
<br /> expectant mothers and their families
<br /> 12) Providence Hospital Sexual Assult Center, PO Box 1067,Ev.-- 2,700.00
<br /> Provide help and therapy to adolescent female
<br /> survivors of incest, and other sexual assult
<br /> victims
