Exhibit A <br /> Project Description:Assessment of Trickling Filter Media Condition and Operation <br /> Scope:The Service Provider will conduct a working site visit to the City of Everett Water Pollution Control Facility <br /> (EWPCF)that will include gathering background information and making observations/suggestions necessary to <br /> estimate the remaining life of the filter media in the City's trickling filters(TFs).The Service Provider will <br /> investigate and analyze the existing TFs in order to: <br /> 1.Determine how much useful life likely remains in the existing TF media, <br /> 2.Recommend what would be the apparent best approach for replacing the TF media, <br /> 3.Estimate how much it would cost to replace the existing TF media,and <br /> 4.Suggest methods to monitor or operate the TFs to avoid an unplanned collapse. <br /> The Service Provider will: <br /> 1.Review reports,drawings or equipment submittals related to the TFs and related treatment units. <br /> 2.Collect/analyze operational data and procedures at the EWPCF that may impact the life of the TF media. <br /> 3.Comment on possible facility improvements that could extend the life of the TF media. <br /> 4.Estimate the remaining useful life of the filter media. <br /> 5.Investigate and comment on TF flushing,air ventilation,and shutdown(compost effect). <br /> 6.Prepare a brief letter report discussing the investigation,findings,conclusions and recommendations. <br /> While onsite,the Service Provider will: <br /> 1.Perform an inspection of the EWPCF TFs and interview staff or the Local Engineer(if available)as to operation <br /> and condition of the TFs and TF media. <br /> 2.Advise or assist the City in TF module removal,inspection and field measurements. <br /> 3.Conduct interactive presentations on TFs: <br /> -Day 1:Introduction and Overview <br /> -Day 2:Preliminary Findings/Observations and Exit Interview <br /> Deliverables-Completed services will include: <br /> 1. Site Visit,Interviews,Information Gathering,TF Analysis,Media Comparisons,and Cost Estimates <br /> 2.Two Interactive Project Presentations/Discussions. <br /> 3.A Summary Letter describing the findings from the tasks detailed above. <br />
