RESOLUTION No. 2667 <br /> A RESOLUTION of condolence - loss of the crew of <br /> Space Shuttle "Challenger" <br /> 1 <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett wishes to convey condolence of <br /> 2 love and sympathy to the families of the seven astronaut heroes; and <br /> 3 WHEREAS, we recognize the terrific technological benefits for <br /> mankind the space program has provided and are thankful to those with <br /> 4 <br /> such vision, courage and commitment to risk their lives for the <br /> 5 betterment of society; and <br /> 6 WHEREAS, the message of the first teacher to be in space "to <br /> humanize the technology of the Space Age" which came about in such a <br /> 7 <br /> shocking way will not be forgotten in terms of future support and <br /> 8 encouragement; <br /> 9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> 10 OF EVERETT, WASHINGTON, THAT this is a special day of pride and <br /> mourning for our entire nation, and our City Council is deeply moved <br /> 11 <br /> and wishes to acknowledge on behalf of our citizens through this <br /> 12 resolution, our regret and appreciation to the seven United States <br /> 13 heroes: Francis R. Scobee, Michael J. Smith, Judy Resnik, Ronald E. <br /> McNair, Ellison S. Onizuka, Gregory B.
