r 1 RESOLUTION NO. o? 6 2 A RESOLUTION authorizing and endorsing "Everett's Evercoin" for buses 3 and trolleys. 4 5 WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have long recognized the great potential 6 of tourists and visitors as an outside source of business revenue in our community; and 7 WHEREAS, through Everett Transit, the City has the opportunity to provide 8 inexpensive public transportation for visitors to visit our Central Business District, our 9 Public Market, the Marina Village, Evergreen Way, South Everett Mall Way, Southwest 10 Everett Industrial Park, including the Boeing Company or our many parks and 11 recreational areas; and 12 WHEREAS, major hotels and numerous merchants desire to participate in 13 providing such transportation through Evercoins entitling visitors and others to free 14 transportation on the City's buses and trolleys; and 15 WHEREAS, the institution of the Evercoin program will provide a major 16 stimulant to our local businesses and Everett Transit; 17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 18 OF EVERETT that the City of Everett is authorized to participate with Everett 19 Ventures and others to establish the "Everett's Evercoin" program. Everett's Evercoins 20 may be used to ride any City bus or trolley to and from any area the buses or trolleys 21 travel. 22 The City Council hereby authorizes the Evercoins to be redeemable at the rate 23 of $0.18-3/4 and further authorizes the City Administration to participate with Everett 24 Ventures, the Chamber of Commerce and various merchants and hotel operators in the 25 promotion of the program. 26 The program is expected to be in full operation by November 1, 1985, so the 27 citizens of Everett, as well as tourists and conventioneers, may take full advantage of 28 / / / / / 29 / / / / / 30 / / / / / 31 / / / / / 32 / / / / /
