Question 13
In Section 9-05.32, Flexible Coupling (New Section), of the Specifications there is a table
showing nominal flexible coupling size and minimum expansion per size. In the table under the
minimum expansion requirement are these values at minimum expansion or minimum total
movement?If at minimum expansion, do you want contraction capability? If no contraction
capability necessary, is it acceptable for these units to ship fully compressed allowing only for
expansion?
Answer—The minimum expansion noted in the table in Section 9-05.32 refers to the total
movement of the coupling. Couplings should be installed according to section 7-04.3, which
describes what position the fittings should be installed at according to the ambient temperature
at the time of installation as well as the location (above or below grade).
Question 14
For the single ball flexible coupling (FL) on Sheet No. 14 (Drawing C4.1), is a ball joint with no
expansion capability to be placed there?
Answer—Correct.
Question 15
Is the DOT Form 422-103 EF to be turned in with the bid documents?
Answer— No, 422-103 EF is only used to report on DBE participation during the construction
phase. The DBE Utilization Certification (DOT Form 272-056) and the DBE Written Confirmation
(DOT Form 422-031) are required.
Question 16
What is the size of the Overflow Roof Drain Pipe on Sheet No. 61 (Drawing A6.2) and which Bid
Item is this to be paid under?
Answer—The Overflow Roof Drain Pipe size is 4" DI, shown on S9.03, to be paid for under Bid
Item No. A179, "Roofing System".
Question 17
What is the roof framing and roof deck pan on Sheet No. 85 (Drawing S1.18) to be paid under?
Answer—The roof framing is to be paid for under Bid Item No. A95, "Structural Low Alloy
Steel — Utility Bridge".The 3" Galvanized Metal Roof Deck is to be paid for under Bid Item No.
A179, "Roofing System". Page S175, Section 6-24.5 is revised to clarify the roof system.
Question 18
Does engineering account for the loads or is the design for camber to off-set sag the
responsibility of the contractor?
Answer—The final in-place erection of the bridge with all dead and live loads shall have no
(zero) sag. The contractor is responsible to account for camber requirements based on their
erection method and sequence of construction of the bridge and application of loads.
Question 19
Is there an update to the .dxf/.dwg files for the aluminum throw barrier panels?
Answer—Yes. The updated files, per the revisions to Sheet No. 57 (Drawing A5.1), can be
obtained at the following location (same location as mentioned in Addendum No. 4):
Site = http://extranet.seattle.kpff.com
Username = bidder
Password = @ddendum4
City of Everett Addendum No. 8
Project Bid
Grand Avenue Park Bridge Page 5
_age 5
Provided to Builders Exchange of WA, Inc.
