1 The Contractor shall provide laser control equipment as approved by the <br /> 2 Engineer for setting pipe grades. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 7-08.3(2)H Sewer Line Connections <br /> 5 Section 7-08.3(2)H is supplemented with the following: <br /> 6 <br /> 7 (City of Everett GSP) <br /> 8 When replacing an existing sewer line, storm drain lines which are connected <br /> 9 to the existing sewer system, unless otherwise specified, shall be reconnected <br /> 10 to the new sewer in accordance with the Standard Specifications. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 The minimum size of new storm drain line shall be 8". Vertical connections of <br /> 13 drain lines to sewer main between manholes shall not be allowed without prior <br /> 14 approval by the Engineer. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Reconnection of drain lines shall be considered as incidental to the <br /> 17 construction and all costs thereof shall be included in various unit contract <br /> 18 prices on the proposal. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Backfilling <br /> 21 Section 7-08.3(3) is supplemented with the following: <br /> 22 <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Backfilling shall be performed only after inspection and approval of the installed <br /> 25 pipe. Refer to City Standard Drawings 610 and 615 for typical trench section <br /> 26 backfill and compaction requirements. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 If native material is not suitable for use as backfill, "Gravel Borrow" conforming to <br /> 29 Section 9-03.14(1) of these Special Provisions shall be used, as required by the <br /> 30 Engineer, for trench backfill. Where trench sections are defined in the drawings, <br /> 31 the materials called for shall be used. Gravel borrow shall not be used in lieu of the <br /> 32 materials specified in the drawings unless specifically approved by the Engineer. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 If the native material is unsuitable at the foundation level, as determined by the <br /> 35 Engineer, excavation shall continue to the depth required by the Engineer. The <br /> 36 unsuitable foundation material shall be replaced with "Quarry Rock", as described <br /> 37 in section 9-13.8 of these special provisions, compacted firmly into the subgrade <br /> 38 soils. After placement of "Quarry Rock", the upper surface shall be compacted to <br /> 39 minimize exposed jagged edges across the over excavated area. A construction <br /> 40 geotextile meeting the specification requirements for separation as provided in <br /> 41 table 3 of Section 9-33.2(1) Standard Specifications shall be placed over the top of <br /> 42 all "Quarry Rock" prior to placement of pipe bedding. The unsuitable material shall <br /> 43 be disposed of by hauling to a waste site obtained and provided by the Contractor <br /> 44 in accordance with Section 2-03.3(7)C of the Standard Specifications. Stockpiling <br /> 45 of unsuitable material on the project site will not be allowed. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 If there is an excess of backfill material obtained from trench excavation at one <br /> 48 location on the project, it shall be used at other locations on the project or disposed <br /> 49 of as at an approved disposal site.
