<br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to execute
<br /> 1985-86 "Human Needs" contracts totaling
<br /> $52,500
<br /> 1 WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee of the Everett City Council
<br /> has ascertained by study and interview that assisting the human service
<br /> 2 agencies listed below to help meet the continuing or one-time needs of their
<br /> 3 various clients is a proper function of the City of Everett, and
<br /> 4 WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee has voted to recommend funding,
<br /> as listed below, for these programs from the 1985 City Budget allocation
<br /> 5 for Human Needs '
<br /> 6 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT
<br /> 7 that the Mayor be authorized to execute a contract with each of these
<br /> below-listed agencies in the amount specified for the purpose stated:

<br /> 1) Senior Services of Snohomish County, 3402 112th St. SW,Everett $ 3,050.00
<br /> 9 Provide more than one 'Meals on Wheels' per day for
<br /> homebound elderly people
<br /> 10 2) Sno-Isle Chapter, American Red Cross,1925 26th St. ,Everett---- 1,200.00
<br /> 11 Provide stationery and stamps for PROJECT PRIDE
<br /> which pays PUD bills for people without funds
<br /> 12 3) Sno-Isle Chapter, American Red Cross,1925 26th St. ,Everett---- 1,000.00
<br /> Provide equipment and training for instructors
<br /> 13 for CPR and first aid classes
<br /> 14 4) Volunteers of America, 2801 Lombard, Everett 4,700.00
<br /> Provide community hot lunch weekdays for needy single
<br /> 15 and transient people
<br /> 5) Catholic Community Services, 1410 Broadway, Everett 2,000.00
<br /> 16 Provide volunteer chore services to frail elderly,
<br /> handicapped and home-bound persons
<br /> 17 6) Everett Gospel Mission, PO Box 42, Everett 6,100.00
<br /> 18 Provide continuing emergency shelter services for
<br /> displaced/transient men, women and children
<br /> 19 7) Sno.Cty. Veterans Action Center, 1511 26th St. , Everett 1,550.00
<br /> Continue employment and counseling help for needy
<br /> 20 veterans and dependents (particularly for Vietnam-era)
<br /> 21 8) Red Cross Adult Day Health Center, 2913 W.Marine View Dr. , Ev. 1,600.00
<br /> Weekday treatment programs for frail or confused
<br /> 22 older people to postpone entering nursing homes
<br /> 9) Drug Abuse Council of Sno.Cty. ,Inc. , 3409 Colby, Everett 800.00
<br /> 23 Provide adolescent/family services to prevent
<br /> alcohol/drug addiction in adolescents
<br /> 24 10) Evergreen Assoc. of the Blind, Inc. ,2722 Colby, #515,Everett 4,000.00
<br /> 25 Provide office supplies, Braille books, other 'tools
<br /> and aids ' to help blind people learn to cope
<br /> 26 11) Pregnancy Aid of Sno.Cty. , PO Box 1317, Everett 2,800.00
<br /> Provide emotional , practical , material support to
<br /> 27 expectant mothers, with follow-up as needed
<br /> 28 12) Stop Abuse, 2731 10th St. , Everett 1,100.00
<br /> Provide resource materials and part of director's
<br /> 29 salary to help victims of family violence
<br /> 13) Hospice of Snohomish County, PO Box 5559, Everett 2,700.00
<br /> 30 Continue funding for bereavement follow-up program
<br /> for family members
