Wildlife Habitat
The subject wetlands and streams provide moderate potential for wildlife habitat. Species
such as passerine birds, small to large mammals, and amphibians are expected to utilize
these wetlands. The forested and scrub -shrub components serve an important role as
wildlife corridors between the surrounding habitats. Additionally, the large, contiguous,
forested corridors connecting the subject wetlands to other large forested upland areas
provides good movement and foraging habitat for birds and mammals. This function is
somewhat limited due to the monoclonal sera[ community present on site.
BUFFER MITIGATION PLAN
The proposed temporary buffer impacts (7,913 square feet) associated with Wetlands A and
C for the proposed conveyance pipe will be restored by planting native shrubs. Planting
holes will be oversized and backfilled with organic topsoil to provide an appropriate medium
for the establishment of the plants. The area will be planted with the following list of native
plants.
Common Name
Latin Name
Size
Spacing
Quantity
1. Fertilizer shall only be used when absolutely necessary
due to potential runoff into sensitive stream and wetland systems. If deemed absolutely
necessary by the consulting biologist and/or the City, a fertilizer such as 16-16-16 shall be
applied at 100 pounds per acre.
Common Name Latin Name lbs./1 000 s f
Colonial bentgrass Agrostis tenuis 0.6
Annual ryegrass Lolium multiflorum 0.3
White clover Trifolium repens 0.2
BIRD BOXES
Five bird boxes will be placed within the buffer near the proposed access road and along the
outside edges of the temporary impact area. These boxes will provide additional habitat
features for nesting birds within the buffer. This measure will help to increase the habitat
value of the buffers.
Critical Area Study and Buffer Mitigation Plan 11 WRI# 09084
Intermec- Lot 2 Revision#2: March 22. 2010
