<br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing the City to
<br /> acquire capital equipment in accordance
<br /> with R.C.W. 67 . 28 Public Stadium,
<br /> Convention, Performing Arts, and Visual
<br /> Arts Facilities .
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has demonstrated its commitment to
<br /> the promotion of tourism and the general enhancement of its
<br /> image through sponsorship of public events, festivals, parades,
<br /> sporting tournaments, and
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett recognizes that a necessary
<br /> component of public events is the availability of seating for
<br /> spectators, members of an audience, parade and festival judges,
<br /> or reviewers , dignitaries, sponsors, and guests, and
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett recognizes that seating for such
<br /> public events needs to be readily portable, easily assembled
<br /> and disassembled, and economical to facilitate the logistics of
<br /> moving from place to place without undue cost in time or labor ,
<br /> and
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett , during the preparation and
<br /> deliberations leading to the final adoption of its 1984 budget,
<br /> did provide an appropriation of $180,000 in Fund 138
<br /> Culture/Convention Center , Program 270 Facility Development,
<br /> for the purpose of acquiring capital fixtures in accordance
<br /> with R.C.W. 67 .28, and
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has, at this time, no such
<br /> seating which meets the criteria as specified above,
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br /> EVERETT:
<br /> That the sum of $10, 000 is hereby allocated from Fund 138,
<br /> Program 270 , for the purpose of acquiring portable seating that
<br /> may be used at public events, festivals, parades, sporting
<br /> tournaments , and other community-wide activities to which the
<br /> general public is invited. The Director of Parks and
<br /> Recreation is directed to prepare specifications for the type,
<br /> construction, material, and assembly of such seating units with
<br /> the objective of specifying a seating unit that is portable and
<br /> which can be moved, assembled, disassembled, and maintained
<br /> with economy while being durable and of sound construction.
