<br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to execute 1984-85
<br /> "Human Needs" contracts totaling $50,000
<br /> WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee of the Everett City Council has
<br /> 1 ascertained by study and interview that assisting the human service agencies
<br /> 2 listed below to help meet the continuing or one-time needs of their various
<br /> clients is a proper function of the City of Everett, and
<br /> 3 WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee has voted to recommend funding, as
<br /> 4 listed below, for these programs from the 1984 Budget allocation for Human
<br /> 5 Needs;
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT
<br /> 6 that the Mayor be authorized to execute a contract with each of these below-
<br /> 7 listed agencies in the amount specified for the purpose stated:
<br /> 8 1) Volunteers of America, 2801 Lombard, Everett $ 2,300.00
<br /> Adolescent suicide prevention program first-year
<br /> 9 costs (CARE Crisis Line outreach)
<br /> 10 2) Evergreen Assoc. of the Blind, 515 Med-Dent Bldg. ,Everett - 3,000.00
<br /> Keep their office in operation
<br /> 11 3) Everett Gospel Mission, PO Box 423, Everett 4,300.00
<br /> Provide shelter for transient or displaced women and
<br /> 12 children; some operating funds for men's shelter
<br /> 13 4) Marvel Industries, PO Box 54, Everett 300.00
<br /> Provide safety helmets for wood shop
<br /> 14 5) Sno-Isle Chapter, American Red Cross, 1925--26th St. ,Everett 1,700.00
<br /> Continue CPR, first aid, and instructor classes
<br /> 15
<br /> 6) Sno-Isle Chapter, American Red Cross, 1925--26th St. ,Everett 1,200.00
<br /> 16 Provide office supplies for PROJECT PRIDE to pay PUD
<br /> bills for low-income or no-income families
<br /> 17 7) Association for Retarded Citizens, PO Box 602, Everett 3,300.00
<br /> Continue Representative Payee service so mentally
<br /> 18 retarded persons and families budget and pay their bills
<br /> 19 8) Sno. Cty. Veterans Action Center, 1511--26th St. , Everett -- 3,300.00
<br /> Help disabled needy war veterans and their dependents
<br /> 20 handle problems and search for jobs
<br /> 9) The Salvation Army, PO Box 1184, Everett 2,700.00
<br /> 21 Support their Food Bank
<br /> 22 10) Pregnancy Aid, PO Box 1317, Everett 2,300.00
<br /> Physical and emotional support for pregnant women and
<br /> 23 their families; follow-up support as needed
<br /> 11) Rainbow Resources, Inc. , PO Box 778, Everett 2,300.00
<br /> 24 Provide emergency dental care to mentally-ill persons
<br /> who are without funds
<br /> 25 12) Drug Abuse Council , 3409 Colby, Everett 3,300.00
<br /> 26 Continue intensive treatment program (30+ hours weekly)
<br /> for low income adolescents who abuse drugs
<br /> 27 13) Catholic Community Services, 510 Commerce Bldg. , Everett - 1,400.00
<br /> Provide volunteer chore services to frail elderly,
<br /> 28 handicapped or homebound persons
<br /> 29 14) Sparrow Ministries Outreach, 2202 Hewitt, Everett 2,300.00
<br /> Support field-gleaning program for their food bank
<br /> 30 and kitchen for hungry-needy persons
