SHORELINE USE ELEMENT <br /> !;oal: Assure appropriate conservation and development of Snohomish <br /> County's shorelines by allowing those uses which are particu- <br /> larly dependent upon their location on and use of shorelines, <br /> as well as other development which provides an opportunity <br /> for substantial numbers of people to enjoy the shorelines. <br /> This must he done in a manner which will achieve an orderly <br /> balance of shoreline uses that do not unduly diminish the <br /> . quality of the environment. <br /> Policies: <br /> 1. Permit only those uses or conditions which allow optional uses <br /> for future generations, unless identified benefits clearly com- <br /> pensate for the physical, social and/or economic loss to future <br /> generations. <br /> 2. Assure that all uses and developments are as compatible as <br /> possible with the site, the surrounding area and the environment. <br /> 3. Provide site development performance standards and other <br /> appropriate criteria to developers indicating minimum acceptable <br /> standards to be achieved. <br /> 4. Identify all existing inappropriate uses and formulate a reloca- <br /> tion program, using a variety of incentives to accomplish this <br /> objective. <br /> 5. Foster uses which protect the potential long-term benefits to <br /> the public from compromise by short-term economic gain or con- <br /> venience. <br /> 6. Encourage multiple use of shorelines where location and inte- <br /> gration of compatible uses or activities is feasible. <br /> 7.
