There is not a grandfather for when
equipment is replaced that you are referring to for"like for like" in the code. The other systems downstream do not have to be
upgraded, but the energy code follows the theory of "you touch it you fix it" in all of the code training classes I have attended, since
the state has mandated increased energy efficiency in each adopted code cycle.
I included the information I sent you by e-mail in the folder, signed off for building, and the permit is now ready for structural
review.
Meg
-----Original Message-----
From:Justin Cobb [mailto:JustinC@Enviromech.com]
Sent: Friday,June 16, 2017 10:19 AM
To: Meg Haley
Cc:Gene Timmons; Danny Klumper
Subject: RE:Verification of compliance with cooling tower requirements in Washington State Energy Code(WSEC)
Meg,
On page CE-123 (the last page of the documents you sent me). We are installing the cooling tower under option B for cooling tower
economizer. No requirements for economizer because it is the replacement of the same or smaller unit(like for like replacement).
The rest of the minimum requirements we talked about on the phone are met(controls related).
Thanks,
Justin Cobb
Retrofit Coordinator I ENVIROMECH
430 SW 153rd Street I Burien,WA 98166
o 206.762.1960 1 c 360.525.7883
-----Original Message-----
From: Meg Haley [mailto:MHaley@everettwa.gov]
Sent: Friday,June 16, 2017 9:43 AM
To:Justin Cobb<JustinC@Enviromech.com>
Subject:Verification of compliance with cooling tower requirements in Washington State Energy Code(WSEC)
RE: M1706-050 840 N BROADWAY
Hi Justin,
I am preparing the submittal for sign-off, and noting that an economizer is required. Please review the attached excerpts from the
WSEC and confirm that these minimum requirements are met by replying to this e-mail. I find the easiest way to review the code is
to use the electronic version and search on cooling tower. The commercial energy code is linked on our website at
everettwa.gov/codes
Thanks!
1
